Guitarists

Honestly, I'm not that good at finding new music. I'm basically a music mooch so I get all of my musical tastes from my friends. So I cannot take credit for finding these two ridiculously good guitarists but I mean, they're really good so why not share?

First off is one that I show to pretty much everyone I know and if you're reading this, you probably know it and therefore, have seen it, it's Ocean by John Butler Trio. I'm gonna post it anyway.

Second is one that was recently shown to me and it kind of blows me away, in a different fashion than John Butler's talent. Andy Mckee's Hunter's Moon

Greatest Mash-ups Ever

So, as promised here are two of the mash-ups we promised you.

Not only are they hilarious, they are also...hilarious (it's early I can't think of anything witty)

Slipnot vs J-biebs? Heck yes

Her face once she starts singing...priceless

Courtney Love: The Original Hot Mess

Yes, Britney shaved her head. And yes, Lindsay went lesbo. But none compare to the original and most crazy bitch, Courtney Love.

Here, she crashes an Mtv interview with Madonna

Here she is at that same award show, lying on the ground.... again

ALLMAN BROTHERS

So on Saturday I went to see the Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon Theater in New York. As you know if you know me, Duane Allman is my favorite guitarist ever. As you know if you know anything, he's also dead. So I obviously wasn't expecting too much from the remaining Allman, Gregg (yes I'm sure it has 2 g's), as I knew that in the 40 years since Duane's death, Gregg did not have the musical prowess to learn slide guitar up to par with his brother. However, I was pleasantly surprised by a young man named Derek Trucks, whom I have affectionately nicknamed faux-Duane, and who was also the best live guitarist I've ever seen. It is my suggestion that you listen to the songs I'm posting, as well as obtaining the album At Fillmore East, as it is the bomb-diggity. It is also extremely difficult to find good quality videos of the band with Duane, as he died in 1971.

Dawes + Deer Tick = Middle Brother

Just saw Dawes, Deer Tick, and their melded supergroup Middle Brother at the Paradise Rock Club. It was fantastic. This is the kind of math equation I like.

ADELE OBSESSION WEEK

Ok so, if you guys didn't know, Adele's new album, 21, came out last month. And I've been listening to it.
And it's amazing. So, asserting my power to influence you over the internets, here's my favorite tracks from the album. Listen to them, and be awed.

Rolling in the Deep:

Someone Like You:

And as much as I love The Cure, their covers are always so much better than their originals (eg Dinosaur Jr, Jack Off Jill, Superchunk)
Lovesong:

So, in conclusion, Adele is amazing, The Cure is amazing, and covers of The Cure are amazing.

I don't even know how to describe this.

So, as promised earlier today here is the video that had us in hysterics.

I don't even know why the Phillipines would have a contest based on lip syncing but this is awesome.

LARGEST CONCERT EVER

Photo of the largest concert ever. 3,500,000 people gathered for THIS GUY:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ41hqlV0Kk
This video is deliciously 80s (sorry if you guys get the Larry the Cable Guy commercial on Youtube... I don't know why that guy is famous)
The concert took place in 1994 in Brazil. Apparently they really love the Rod. No one can resist the feathered hair look.

I'm working on getting the songs embedded so you don't have to follow links all over creation, but I have a hard time understanding anything that was invented after 1999, so bear with me on the Youtube thing for now.
